The 2019 Chiroubles La Grosse Pierre bursts with aromas of ripe red berries, rose petals and spices. Medium-bodied, fine boned and lively, with soft powdery tannins and a vibrant core of juicy fruit, minerality nuances, and concludes with a lush sateen finish.

Practicing Organic (in conversion to certification.) 100 Gamay. The Passot family have been growers in Chiroubles for years but Pauline Passot's first harvest was in 2016, and she now "rents" 6 hectares of vineyards from her parents. Her principal holding is the parcel named La Grosse Pierre in Chiroubles. Soil here is the classic granite "rose." Vines average 45 years and are vinified with whole bunches and matured almost entirely in cement tanks, with a little sulfur at bottling. A delicious example of much neglected Chiroubles! In the short time since taking over her family’s estate, Pauline Passot has made a name for herself as the producer of high quality, balanced wine that are very expressive of their terroirs.

Jancis Robison: "Domaine de la Grosse Pierre 2019 Chiroubles: Pauline Passot makes translucent Beaujolais that is seriously underpriced. Fragrant, delicate, mouth-filing and very refined."
