Let's Get Ready for The Super Bowl

Congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers for making it to the Super Bowl this Sunday! Yes, the Super Bowl is Sunday, February 7. It should be an exciting game... a battle of quarterbacks.

If you are not a football fan, you are not alone. Let's face it; most people tune in for the commercials and enjoy hosting a party. The Super Bowl is the best excuse to eat indulgent finger foods.

My friend, Chef Chris Brooks, assembled some appealing appetizers for the big game. A couple of the recipes are a twist on your traditional meatballs and tacos. We also have a Maryland mini-crabcake recipe. These recipes will help you plan your Super Bowl menu.

Spicy Lamb Meatballs and Green Goddess Sauce

Spicy Lamb Meatballs with Green Goddess Sauce

I tried the recipe this weekend. I love these meatballs. These meatballs are the perfect alternative to those frozen meatballs often served. They really are not as spicy as it appears, especially when you dip them in the Green Goddess Sauce. The recipe calls for anchovies. I am not a big fan of anchovies. But, I included the anchovies in the recipe, and it was delicious. The meatballs pair nicely with our Chenin Blanc and Riesling. The wines are dry, fruit-forward and fragrant. The fruity and floral notes complement the spicy flavors.  Click here to view and download the recipe.

Sweet Potato and Black Beans Tacos

Sweet Potato and Black Beans Tacos
The sweet potatoes and black beans are a creative substitution for beef or chicken tacos. Extremely filling and flavorful. You can substitute full-size taco shells for mini tortillas. The unique flavor profile pairs beautifully with Reserve Pinot Noir  and Conjure Zinfandel. Click here to view and download the recipe

Maryland crabcakes are perfect for every occasion. This recipe is so easy. You probably have most of the ingredients in your home. Chardonnay and crabcakes are a classical match. All of  The Wine Concierge's Chardonnays will go well with this recipe. If you want to kick it up a notch, try Bloomsbury sparkling with this crabcake. Click here to view and download the recipe
