March 3 - National Mulled Wine. Try This Mulled Wine Recipe
Winter 10 - Spring 1.
There were a couple glimpses of spring this week, but winter made a comeback this weekend. Mulled Wine is a good response to winter's chilly days. Mulled Wine is a classic hot, spiced punch with red wine, brandy, citrus and spices.
March 3 is the official Mulled Wine holiday.
Keep in mind, a few things,
- Similar to most wine cocktails use inexpensive wine.
- Avoid overly tannic or oaky wines like Cabernet Sauvignon.
- Conversely, light-bodied wines like Pinot Noir, should not be used. The Mulled Wine spices may overwhelm the wine.
- Use fruit forward wines like Merlot, Zinfandel or Garnacha.
