2018 Artesana Red Blend, Canelones, Uruguay

A rich, full-bodied wine with prominent dark fruit flavors like blackberry, plum, and cassis, often with notes of spice and vanilla from oak aging; this blend is usually dominated by Tannat grapes, sometimes blended with Merlot and Zinfandel, delivering a robust structure with firm tannins and a lingering finish, characteristic of Uruguayan wines from the Canelones region.

The Artesana vineyard is entirely hand-farmed. Sustainable, low-input, dry farming is practised using the Integrated Pest Management program (IPM) to maintain the long-term health of the land. Blake Heinemann and his family own Artesana winery in Canelones, Uruguay. The winery was founded in 2007 in partnership with Analía Lazaneo, a Uruguayan winemaker having been a partner since the beginning and still the primary winemaker today.
