The Apalta Vineyard is the gem of the Lapostolle estate in Chile's Colchagua Valley. It's where they source the fruit for one of Chile's greatest wines, Clos Apalta. The Cuvee Alexandre Cabernet is also sourced from this extraordinary vineyard. Surrounded on three sides by hills and a river on the fourth side it has its own unique micro-climate. Producing deeply concentrated fruit. The vineyard is certified organic and biodynamic, with grapes hand-harvested, rigorously selected, and fermented using native wild yeasts.
Planted back in 1920 it also has deeply rooted grapevines averaging 60 years old, which is a key element in the fruit concentration and richness available for the wines flavorful mouthfeel and structure.
The region produces highly sought after wines and Cabernet Sauvignon thrives here. Paola Muñoz is currently the head woman winemaker at Lapostolle & she really knows how to showcase all of the positive characteristics of the grapes she uses. This wine is ripe but not too jammy, with cassis, currant & just a hint of the distinctive bell pepper quality unique to Cabernet Sauvignon from the region.
