Nonna Iride Would Be Proud — A Woman-Made Malbec Worth Every Sip

Some wines come from a place. This one comes from a family. The kind with a grandmother who crossed an ocean, planted roots in Mendoza, and passed down a love for the vine that four generations couldn't shake loose.

The 2019 La Iride Malbec Partida Seleccionada is a woman-owned, woman-made Argentine Malbec that earned 90 points from the IWSC — and honestly, we think it deserves more. Rich, complex, and silky smooth, this is the bottle you open when the moment calls for something real.

🍷 What's in the Glass

  • Color: Deep purple with gorgeous ruby-red edges
  • Aroma: Violets, ripe red fruits, coffee, and tobacco — the kind of nose that makes you pause before you even take a sip
  • Taste: Round and silky with vigorous tannins, balanced acidity, and a long, expressive finish of vanilla, mocha, and dark chocolate
  • Style: Dry red wine | 14.1% ABV | 750ml | Aged 18–24 months in oak

🍽️ Pairs Well With…

  • BBQ brisket, grilled ribeye, or slow-smoked short ribs
  • Hearty pasta — think Bolognese, oxtail ragù, or lasagna
  • Roasted lamb or braised short ribs for a dinner party centerpiece
  • Aged manchego, gouda, or a bold charcuterie board
  • Thanksgiving turkey, Friendsgiving feasts, and holiday spreads

👩🍷 The Story Behind the Bottle

La Iride is named for Iride Papotti — "la nonna" — an Italian immigrant who arrived in Mendoza with her husband Gino and a centuries-old winemaking tradition packed in her luggage. Their family had been making wine in Italy since at least the early 1800s, passing methods from generation to generation like a treasured recipe.

When they settled in Argentina's most celebrated wine region, the tradition continued. Their children built winemaking machinery. Their grandchildren built a winery. And today, the women of La Iride carry that legacy forward — crafting wines from a woman winemaker that honor where they came from while earning recognition on the world stage.

This is a women-owned wine rooted in love, land, and four generations of knowing exactly what they're doing.
