The flagship white grape variety in Austria, grown and produced here in Maryland! Produced in stainless steel. Dry, with zippy notes of bright green apple, lemongrass, lemon and lime. Finishes smooth with nice minerality.

The Loew family’s establishment in the wine production dates back at least as far as the Austro-Hungarian Empire, is woven into a rich tapestry of European custom and tradition. Renewing a European family tradition of fine wine-making, Loew Vineyards was established in 1982. The rolling hills of the Maryland countryside provide an ideal setting for growing both vinifera and French-American grapes.  Now, the torch is being passed to the next generations, with the eldest granddaughter Rachel (Lipman). Growing up learning about the family history and having fond memories of the vineyard, she began to immerse herself in all aspects of the industry.

The vineyard is basically divided into five sections, with slopes generally to the west. The rows of vines are planted in an east-west orientation, consistent with the prevailing winds from the west. We use a cordon method of training the vines, as a means of producing a good yield while minimizing foliage cover. Leaf-pulling and summer pruning are major summer activities as we further encourage optimal exposure of the grapes to the sun and breeze.
