Wine Producer / Historical Notes

Kaapzicht’s vineyards lie on the northwest-facing slopes of the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch, overlooking Table Mountain and False Bay. Elevation, older vines, and proximity to the Atlantic Ocean shape the estate’s growing conditions.

The Steytler family has worked the estate across four generations, with the first vintage bottled in 1984. Danie Junior assumed primary winemaking responsibilities in 2009, continuing the family’s hands-on tradition.

Kayleigh Hattingh has been a winemaker at Kaapzicht since 2018, contributing to the estate’s winemaking alongside its multigenerational family tradition.
