"The 2017 Ensamblaje is a multi-grape red blend of 28% Syrah, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% de Carménère, 12% Petit Verdot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 6% Carignan, quite different from the blend used in 2016. The varieties feel quite integrated, and there is creamy black fruit and some spices on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and has fine tannins and a soft mouthful with moderate acidity.
The family history of Casa Bauza began with the discovery of fertile land in 1903, and an understanding of the delicate balance between winemaking technique and the needs of different varietals from the unique terrroir of Chile.
Casa Bauzá was born in 2011 with “Ensamblaje Casa Bauzá”, a wine composed of Carménère, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from our organic vineyard located in the northern area of the Maipo Valley. Its objective was to faithfully represent the expression of its origin, showing the full potential of each variety. To achieve this, we harvest our grapes by hand, which in turn are fermented and raised separately.
“Ensamblaje Casa Bauzá” is a wine that demonstrates a perfect fusion between fruit and the balanced use of wood. A concentrated specimen, of great juiciness and with exquisite acidity combined with the notes provided by its aging in wood. Without a doubt, a great exponent of the Maipo Valley.
Bauza’s winemaker, Natalia Poblete, Chile’s Young Winemaker of the Year in 2018.
