The 2022 Muscat of Alexandria from Indigené Cellars is a vibrant, aromatic white wine that captures the essence of California's Central Coast. This pale straw-hued wine presents aromas of lychee, white flowers, and honeysuckle, complemented by a light body and a crisp, refreshing finish.

Indigené Cellars is a Black-owned winery founded by Raymond Smith, a self-taught winemaker who transitioned from a background in the music industry to pursue his passion for winemaking. Established in 2008 and based in Paso Robles, California, Indigené Cellars is dedicated to producing small-batch, artisan wines that reflect the unique terroir of the region. The winery emphasizes sustainable practices and showcases a diverse portfolio.

Muscat of Alexandria, an ancient grape variety, thrives in the warm, sun-drenched vineyards of Paso Robles. The region's Mediterranean climate, characterized by hot days and cool nights, allows the grape to develop its signature aromatic intensity while retaining balanced acidity. Indigené Cellars' interpretation of this varietal offers a New World expression that honors its historical roots while highlighting the distinctive qualities imparted by the Central Coast terroir.

Muscat of Alexandria is one of the oldest known grape varieties and is part of the larger Muscat family. In Italy, several Muscat-type grapes (collectively called “Moscato”) are cultivated, and Muscat of Alexandria is believed to be a genetic ancestor of Moscato Bianco, Italy’s most important Muscat varietal. Both grapes are known for their intensely floral, fruity, and grapey aromas, though they differ in structure and nuance.
