Perfumed and fresh on its feet, this charming Pinot Noir is a fantastic find. Red-cherry notes are pure and pristine from start to finish, accented by cooling tones of crushed slate, wild mint and rose petal. It's a juicy wine edged by delicate tannins that drinks beautifully young but should hold well through 2030 at least. 100% Pinot Noir from a mix of vineyards on slate. 50% stem inclusion. Vinified 3 weeks in open fermenters then matured briefly in used Burgundy barrels. Bottled unfiltered. Bright magenta in color, fruit-driven, juicy, buoyant, and addictively drinkable.

Steinmetz is a third-generation winery in Brauneberg. We took over the business from our parents and are continuing the tradition that our family started over a hundred years ago. A wife and husband team, Sammie and Stefan Steinmetz brings you tradition, innovation and craft in every bottle representing the classic characteristics of German wine bursting with flavors.

They practice what they call “natural viticulture,” which means using no fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides, plus controlling yields and carefully harvesting and sorting by hand. They’ve focused on acquiring plots of old, own-rooted Riesling parcels when possible. The Brauneberger Juffer site is the trademark of their winery, and they also own plots in such famous sites as Kestener Paulinshofberg, Piesporter Goldtröpfchen, Wintricher Geierslay and Oligsberg, Mülheimer Sonnenlay, Veldenzer, Grafschafter Sonnenberg, and Dhroner Hofberg. The extremely steep slopes in these areas mean that they can only be worked by hand.
