Traditional flavors one would expect from a well made Alvarinho from the Minho region. A floral nose with hints of lemon curd and ginger, flavors of lemon, lime, grapefruit, and apricot on the palate. A lovely hint of salinity makes this a perfect wine for seafood.
This wine is made from the noblest and best known Portuguese grape variety, in a year of exceptional quality.
The Meireles family were vineyard owners in the small town of Lixa and, in 1986, set up a winery producing some very fine Vinho Verde. After a whole load of hard work and their wines gaining a reputation for quality, class and ageing potential, six years later they were able to purchase the ten-hectare Quintada Lixa vineyard. This now gives the company its name, and in 1994 they invested in a new, larger winery to continue to grow and improve their already impressive output.
