2024 Apollo's Praise Gamay Noir, Lahoma Vineyards Seneca Lake, Finger Lakes AVA,New York

Bright ruby in the glass, this Gamay Noir opens with lively aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry layered with hints of violet and subtle earth. The palate is juicy yet structured, offering vibrant red berry fruit supported by silky tannins and refreshing acidity. Notes of bramble fruit and delicate spice unfold through the mid-palate, leading to a fresh yet savory finish that is medium-bodied and balanced, inspired stylistically by the more serious expressions of Cru Beaujolais rather than a light “nouveau” style.

The wine comes from Apollo’s Praise, founded by winemaking partners Julia Rose Hoyle and Kelby James Russell, who established the winery to express the character of the Finger Lakes through site-driven wines. Julia serves as co-owner and co-winemaker, bringing years of experience from Hosmer Winery before launching the project with Kelby. Together they purchased Lahoma Vineyard on the west side of Seneca Lake in 2023, a rolling sandstone-based site where sustainable farming and careful vineyard management allow varieties like Gamay to develop bright acidity and complex fruit expression typical of the region.
