Amarone is one of Italy’s greatest wines — and Begali is one of its most revered producers. Made from partially dried Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara grapes in the Valpolicella Classico zone, this 2018 Amarone is a wine of extraordinary power, complexity, and depth. Rich, concentrated, and built to age for decades, this is a bottle for moments that deserve the very best — and for collectors who understand that some wines are worth waiting for.
Wine Details & Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes: Deep, opaque ruby with aromas of dried cherry, dark plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, leather, and a hint of dried fig and spice. On the palate, it’s full-bodied with velvety, well-integrated tannins, flavors of concentrated dark fruit, espresso, and dried herbs, and an extraordinarily long, complex finish. The 2018 vintage was exceptional in Valpolicella — this Amarone is built to evolve beautifully over the next 20+ years.

Food Pairing
Amarone is one of the world’s great food pairing wines — its extraordinary concentration and power demand equally bold, rich dishes. The classic pairing is braised beef short ribs or osso buco — the richness of the meat and the depth of the wine create a combination that defines Italian gastronomy at its finest. It’s equally stunning alongside slow-roasted lamb, wild boar ragù, and aged hard cheeses like Parmigiano-Reggiano and aged Pecorino. For a traditional Veronese pairing, try it with pasta all’Amarone — a rich pasta dish made with the wine itself. Also extraordinary alongside dark chocolate and dried fruit at the end of a meal.
- Pairs well with: Braised short ribs, osso buco, slow-roasted lamb, wild boar ragù, aged Parmigiano
- Also great with: Aged Pecorino, pasta all’Amarone, dark chocolate, dried figs, hearty game dishes
- Serve at: 62–68°F — decant 1–2 hours to fully open up the aromatics and soften the tannins
Occasion
This is your once-in-a-while bottle — the one you open for milestone anniversaries, landmark celebrations, and moments that deserve liquid greatness. An extraordinary gift for the serious wine collector, the Italian wine enthusiast, or anyone who appreciates wines of historic pedigree and exceptional quality. This is also a cellar-worthy bottle — if you can resist opening it, it will reward patience with even greater complexity over the next two decades.
Wine Producer / Historical Notes
Lorenzo Begali is one of Valpolicella’s most celebrated family producers, farming his vineyards in the Classico zone with deep respect for tradition and terroir. Amarone della Valpolicella is made using the appassimento method — grapes are harvested and then dried for 90–120 days on bamboo racks, concentrating their sugars, acids, and flavors to extraordinary levels before fermentation. The result is a wine of unparalleled richness, complexity, and longevity. The Valpolicella Classico zone, in the hills west of Verona, is the historic heartland of Amarone production — its ancient limestone soils and cool hillside vineyards producing wines of exceptional elegance and depth. This bottle is a piece of Italian wine history.
