The wines of El Enemigo are a tribute to those internal battles that make us who we are, brought to fruition by a winemaker, Alejandro Vigil, and a historian, Adrianna Catena who share a love of wine and reach back in time to capture the era when European immigrants first settled in Argentina.

El Enemigo Syrah-Viognier is fermented with indigenous yeasts at 28ºC for 15 days plus another five days of extraction. Then it remains in foudres of 100 years for 7 months.

On the face we have a deep ruby color, with purple highlights. On the nose we find aromas of black fruit, cocoa, tobacco, with notes of black pepper following. On the palate it is full-bodied, with good acidity, velvety tannins and a lasting aftertaste.

Adrianna, the youngest daughter of Nicolás Catena Zapata, has lived and breathed wine since childhood. Alejandro Vigil has been head winemaker of Bodega Catena Zapata since 2002, receiving the first 100-point rating awarded to a South American wine by Robert Parker. Two romantic winemakers create El Enemigo (the enemy), a name inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. Nodding to the fact that, "At the end of the journey we remember only one battle. The one we fought against ourselves, the one that defines us."
