2021 RTR (Red Tail Ridge) Blaufrankisch, Finger Lakes

Aromas of ripe plum are contrasted by hints of cedar wood and star anise. A medium weight on the mid-palate presents hints of cocoa powder and pink peppercorn highlighting its plucky acidity. Purple and blueberry aromas jump from the glass rounded by black pepper spice on the palate with hints of clove and black berries on the end. This bright and expressive red make a great partner to grilled lamb. Gaining popularity among NY winemakers the vigorous, dark-skinned Blaufränkisch has really found a footing along the slopes of the Finger Lakes.

The Finger Lakes of Upstate New York has established itself as an ideal site in North America to produce exceptional cool-climate wines such as Riesling, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Over the years, it has also become a place where experimentation is prolific. Nancy Irelan and Mike Schnelle are all about experimenting. Together they bring years of industry and other expertise to this modern and focused project. Presently they are the only LEED-Gold Certified Green winery in New York.
