This Merlot is planted on the lower mountain slopes in deep karoo soils that retain water well. These soils render a good buffer capacity against unfavorable weather conditions. The Merlot vines are planted South East – North West to protect the grapes from direct sunlight and to utilize the prevailing South Eastern breeze to cool the grapes during the ripening season. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks at 24°Celcius for 7 days. The wine was matured on French Oak for 4 months to add weight and complexity.
Rich, dark red colour with ripe, punchy, plum flavours, sweet black cherry and a velvet finish. Delicate wood does not mask the ripe fruit.
The Seven Sisters wine brand evolved from its association with the seven Brutus sisters of Paternoster. The Brutus family lived in a small fishing village on the western coast. The Brutus sisters and their baby brother left the tranquility of their sleepy town at a very early age when the family was evicted from their home. They yearned to return but were not able to do so given the unfavorable circumstances of the time.
Today we celebrate sisterhood and family!
