The Masseria Setteporte Etna Rosso is a refined and energetic expression of the volcano, crafted from a traditional blend of 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio. This organic red wine presents an intense ruby hue and a complex aromatic profile characterized by wild berries, sour cherries, and Mediterranean herbs, all underscored by a distinct flinty minerality. On the palate, it is described as fresh and "crunchy," offering a well-balanced structure with grainy tannins and vibrant acidity that leads to a persistent, elegant finish. It typically undergoes fermentation in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts followed by maturation in French oak barriques to enhance its texture without overshadowing its volcanic character. 

The estate is situated on the southwestern slopes of Mount Etna in the commune of Biancavilla, a unique sub-region known for its ancient, south-facing terraces. Unlike the more common northern slopes, this area features exposed soils from the Ellitico epoch that are particularly old, less fertile, and rich in red and black volcanic minerals. The vineyards are perched at high altitudes between 650 and 800 meters, where significant diurnal temperature shifts and cooling Mediterranean breezes allow the grapes to ripen slowly and retain their aromatic finesse. The Portale family has stewarded this land for generations, but it was modernised in 2002 by Piero Portale, who expanded the property and committed to certified organic viticulture to preserve the authentic identity of this rare viticultural site.
