Southwest France is one of the wine world’s most exciting and underexplored regions — and this 2024 Christophe Avi Rosé from Agenais IGP is a beautiful example of why. Made from younger vines with minimal intervention — no chemicals in the vineyard, all natural yeast, light filtration — this is a rosé of genuine terroir: mineral, elegant, and alive with nuanced fruit. Sourced and imported by women co-owned Mary Taylor Wines, from a biodynamic farmer who is, in their words, an all-around kind and decent human.

The mineral character, lime leaf freshness, and dry grip of this Agenais Rosé make it a natural companion for a wide range of dishes. Pairs beautifully with grilled salmon, roasted chicken, and fresh seafood. The earthy, mineral notes make it a wonderful match for charcuterie, soft cheeses, and herb-forward salads. Also excellent alongside light pasta dishes, grilled vegetables, and anything with citrus or fresh herbs. Serve well chilled at 45–50°F for peak freshness and aromatics.

Wine Producer / Historical Notes

Christophe Avi farms 20 hectares of deeply regenerative and biodiverse vineyards in and around Laplume, south of the Garonne, in the Lot-et-Garonne area of Southwest France. He discontinued working with the large Buzet co-op roughly 30 years ago when he discovered a passion for biodynamic farming — and has never looked back. IGP Agenais was established in 2011 to capture the typicity of wines from this area, where sandy soils extending from the Landes Forest give wines their distinctive mineral freshness. Mary Taylor Wines, a women co-owned importer, works directly with Christophe and describes him with genuine affection: “When Christophe is not on the tractor or tending to his wines, he is rescuing cats, cooking for his lovely wife, and being an all-around kind and decent human. The Avi family had cooked for us for days in preparation for our last visit and we spent so much time playing in the vineyards — I left feeling like this is exactly the kind of family business I am so proud to support.”
