A lively, medium-bodied red wine that highlights the expressive nature of the Barbera grape grown at elevation. This wine opens with aromas of wild blackberry, violet, and licorice, leading into layered flavors of ripe plum, tart cherry, and juicy red currant on the palate. Undertones of leather, cedar, and sweet baking spice come through from its 18-month aging in a mix of French, American, and neutral oak barrels. With bright acidity, soft tannins, and a smooth, lingering finish, it’s both food-friendly and approachable, showing off the balance and freshness typical of mountain-grown Barbera. It is a vibrant expression of the Barbera grape, showcasing the winery's commitment to producing wines that reflect both varietal character and a sense of place.

Barbera, originally from Italy's Piedmont region, is known for its high acidity and low tannins, making it a versatile and food-friendly wine. In California, particularly in regions like El Dorado County, Barbera thrives in the warm climate and diverse soils, producing wines that are fruit-forward and full-bodied, yet retain the grape's characteristic acidity. Teneral Cellars' Barbera reflects this New World style while maintaining a nod to its Italian roots.
