The name says everything. Anónimas Viticultoras — Anonymous Women Winemakers — was founded by María Falcón and Cristina Yagüe, two Galician women with a focused and deliberate mission: to make exceptional low-intervention wines from Galicia’s native grapes, and to use that platform to highlight the women who have historically done the labor of winemaking without receiving the credit, the recognition, or the name on the bottle. The word “anónimas” — anonymous, feminine plural in Spanish — is both an acknowledgment of history and a refusal to repeat it. María and Cristina make wines that are precise, terroir-driven, and deeply rooted in the landscape of Galicia’s Atlantic coast. And they put women’s names on the label.

“Os Dunares” — “the dunes” in Galician — comes from roughly 30-year-old Albaríno vines grown less than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean in Rías Baixas, the coastal Galician appellation that produces Spain’s most celebrated white wines. Lees aging in stainless steel reinforces both texture and freshness without adding oak influence — preserving every bit of the vineyard’s coastal character. The result is everything Rías Baixas Albaríno should be: pale lemon in the glass, bright and coastal and precise. Lemon zest, grapefruit, honeydew, nectarine, and sea-salt notes riding over stony minerality, with brisk acidity and a lightly tingling, saline finish. Fresh and elegant rather than heavy. The Atlantic showing clearly in both the aroma and the snap of the palate. A wine that tastes like it was made one mile from the ocean — because it was.

About Rías Baixas & Albaríno

Rías Baixas is a DO (Denominación de Origen) in Galicia, the lush, rainy Atlantic corner of northwestern Spain — a region whose climate, coastline, and granite soils have nothing in common with the sun-drenched wine regions most people picture when they think of Spain. Albaríno is the dominant and defining grape of Rías Baixas: high in natural acidity, intensely aromatic, and deeply shaped by its proximity to the sea. The best examples — like Os Dunares — carry a saline minerality and a brisk, refreshing snap that is unlike any other white wine in Spain. The name “Os Dunares” honors the dune landscapes of Galicia’s Atlantic coast where these vines grow, shaped by ocean winds and rooted in ancient granite soils.

Food Pairing

The lemon zest, grapefruit, sea salt, stony minerality, and brisk Atlantic acidity of this Rías Baixas Albaríno make it one of the most naturally seafood-driven and genuinely coastal wines in the collection. Pairs beautifully with fresh oysters, steamed clams, grilled octopus, and ceviche — the saline minerality mirrors the flavors of the sea with extraordinary precision. The brisk acidity and citrus brightness make it a wonderful companion for grilled shrimp, fish tacos, and any preparation with lime, cilantro, or fresh herb. Also excellent alongside goat cheese, light summer salads, and Galician-style pulpo a feira (octopus with olive oil and pimentón). A natural for Spring and Summer Club selections, coastal-themed entertaining, and sharing with the wine lover who has never experienced what Atlantic-influenced Galician terroir tastes like in a glass. Serve well-chilled at 44–48°F.

Wine Producer / Historical Notes

Anónimas Viticultoras was founded by María Falcón and Cristina Yagüe — two Galician winemakers whose mission is as clear as the wine they make: produce exceptional low-intervention wines from Galicia’s native grapes, and use that platform to highlight the women who have historically worked in wine without recognition. The name “anónimas” — anonymous, feminine plural — acknowledges the generations of women who farmed the vines, made the wine, and never saw their names on a label. María and Cristina have dedicated their winery to changing that story — one bottle, one vineyard, and one named woman at a time. Os Dunares, from 30-year-old vines less than a mile from the Atlantic in Rías Baixas, is the wine that carries that mission most directly: rooted in Galicia’s dune landscapes, aged on lees in stainless steel for texture and freshness, and made with the precision and care that the anonymous women of wine history always deserved.
