Medium ruby in the glass with garnet reflections, this Tuscan red opens with aromas of ripe red cherry, wild raspberry, and violet layered with subtle earthy undertones and hints of Mediterranean herbs. The palate is vibrant and balanced, offering fresh red fruit supported by supple tannins and lively acidity. Notes of plum, licorice, and gentle spice develop through the mid-palate, leading to an elegant and persistent finish with a touch of minerality that reflects the hillside character of the Le Civette Vineyard in the Tuscan countryside.
The wine is produced at Poggio la Noce, a small organic estate in the hills of Fiesole just outside Florence, owned and operated by husband-and-wife team Enzo Schiano and Claire Beliard. Claire serves as co-owner and co-winemaker, working alongside Enzo to guide the estate’s vineyard and cellar decisions while focusing on expressive Sangiovese-based wines that reflect the surrounding Tuscan landscape. The couple established the estate after restoring an abandoned hillside property, and today they farm their vineyards organically with hand-tended vines, native yeast fermentations, and minimal intervention in the cellar to allow the character of the land and vineyards—such as Le Civette—to speak clearly through the wines.
