About Shabo Winery

Shabo Winery was established in 1822 when Swiss settlers planted the first vineyards in the village of Shabo, in the Odessa Oblast of what is now southern Ukraine. Two centuries of winemaking history in a region most wine drinkers have never considered — which is exactly what makes it worth considering. The winery combines traditional European winemaking techniques with modern technology to produce wines that reflect the unique terroir of the northern Black Sea coast: a continental climate tempered by maritime influence, limestone-rich soils, and a viticulture tradition that predates most of the wine regions Americans know by name.
