Domaine Les Aphillanthes is a rising star of the southern Rhône — and this 2024 ‘Clementia’ Côtes du Rhône Blanc is one of the most compelling white wine values in our collection. A 60-hectare biodynamic estate just northwest of Gigondas, run by fourth-generation winemakers Daniel and Hélène Boulle, who took over in 1987 and made a life-changing decision in 2000: after treating their son’s eczema with natural remedies, they converted the entire estate to biodynamic principles. The result is a range of outstanding natural Côtes du Rhône wines — red, white, and rosé — that are as authentic and alive as the land they come from. This highly aromatic, full-flavored white blend of Viognier, Roussanne, Clairette, and Marsanne is rich, complex, and beautifully balanced — a Wine Club favorite and a perfect expression of southern Rhône white wine at its finest.

Wine Producer / Historical Notes

Domaine Les Aphillanthes is a 60-hectare wine estate located just northwest of Gigondas in the southern Rhône Valley, currently run by Daniel Boulle and his wife Hélène. As fourth-generation winemakers, they took over the estate in 1987 and began producing their own cuvée from grapes that until that time had been sold to the coopérative. In 2000, after treating their son’s eczema with natural remedies, they made the decision to convert the entire estate to biodynamic principles — a turning point that transformed the domaine into one of the rising stars of the southern Rhône. Today, Domaine Les Aphillanthes is making outstanding natural Côtes du Rhône in red, white, and rosé — wines that are as authentic, alive, and expressive of their terroir as any in the region. The estate is spread across three local towns including Cairanne, one of the Rhône’s most celebrated appellations for natural and biodynamic winemaking.
