German Sekt from the Mosel is one of the wine world’s most exciting and underappreciated sparkling styles — and Steinmetz’s 2021 Brut Rosé is a stunning example of why. Crafted with little to no dosage, this bone-dry sparkling rosé is energetic, precise, and alive with the cool-climate tension that only the Mosel can produce. From a Black-owned, woman-owned, family winery with over a century of tradition behind it, this is a bottle that delivers both exceptional quality and a remarkable story.
Wine Details & Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes: Vibrant aromas of tart wild strawberries, red currants, and a subtle hint of blood orange zest, layered over a distinct background of crushed slate minerality and faint herbal notes of sage. The mousse is fine and persistent, creating a lively yet elegant texture that balances a laser-focused, bone-dry acidity. Crafted with little to no dosage, the finish is remarkably clean, linear, and salty, leaving a lingering impression of crisp red fruit and stony tension. Highly rated and showing beautifully.

Food Pairing
The bone-dry acidity, fine mousse, and slate minerality of this Sekt Brut Rosé make it one of the most food-versatile sparkling wines you can pour. Pairs beautifully with oysters, smoked salmon, and fresh seafood. The crisp red fruit and herbal notes make it a wonderful companion for charcuterie, soft cheeses, and light appetizers. Also excellent alongside sushi, grilled shrimp, and strawberry-dressed salads. Serve well chilled at 40–45°F to preserve the fine mousse and vibrant aromatics.

This is your celebration sparkling rosé with a story worth telling — the bottle for dinner parties, special occasions, and gifting the wine enthusiast who appreciates precision, terroir, and meaningful representation in every glass. A standout choice for anyone exploring German sparkling wine beyond the obvious, and a beautiful introduction to Mosel Sekt for anyone who hasn’t yet discovered this extraordinary style.
Wine Producer / Historical Notes
Steinmetz is a third-generation, woman-owned family winery in Brauneberg, in the heart of the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer. Sammie and Stefan Steinmetz continue a tradition their family started over a hundred years ago, bringing together heritage, innovation, and craft in every bottle. The winery practices natural viticulture — no fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides — with controlled yields and careful hand-harvesting and sorting. Steinmetz has focused on acquiring plots of old, own-rooted Riesling parcels, including the prestigious Brauneberger Juffer site and renowned vineyards such as Kestener Paulinshofberg, Piesporter Goldtropfchen, Wintricher Geierslay, and Dhroner Hofberg. The extremely steep slopes of these sites can only be worked by hand — a testament to the family’s commitment to quality and authenticity.
