2017 Evolucio Late Harvest Furmint, Tokaji, Hungary, (500ml)

A gently sweet late-harvest Furmint showing apricot, peach, honey and orange marmalade with floral notes and touches of citrus and tropical fruit. The sweetness is balanced by Furmint’s naturally assertive acidity, keeping the medium-bodied palate vibrant rather than syrupy, with a smooth, lingering honeyed finish.

Evolúció is built around Tokaj’s indigenous grapes and volcanic terroir, with its producer partner described as one of the region’s historic producers but deliberately left unnamed in the project’s public materials. Rather than assigning an unsupported ownership or diversity designation, its story here is one of Hungarian cultural and varietal heritage. Late-harvest Furmint’s honeyed fruit and piercing natural acidity make it an especially useful fall wine with blue cheese, fruit desserts or as a cool-evening finish to dinner.
