With a beautiful ruby color, noticeable aromas of red and black fruits, including raspberry, cherry, and blackcurrant are playful on the nose. Hints of soft spice, orange peel, and florals like rose petal and lavender add complexity, along with subtle earthy notes of potpourri, moist earth, and leather.
The wine is approachable and focused, with primary flavors of ripe red and black berries. The palate is "fresh and crunchy," offering notes of plum, bitter red currants, and a subtle savory or spicy finish. Minimal oak influence during aging allows the vibrant fruit to be the star. Its soft, plush tannins and balanced, juicy acidity with supple fruit create a smooth, crystalline texture. Finishes with a silky smooth, glassy mouthfeel.
Critics describe it as an easy-to-drink wine that is both delightfully fruity and dangerously quaffable.
Vineyards: 100% Kiona Estate
Composition: 97% Lemberger, 3% Merlot
Sustainable WA certified.

An intrinsically drinkable cult classic over the last 40+ vintages, Kiona Estate Lemberger revels in its unorthodoxy. This compelling, medium-bodied, fruit-forward bottling pairs easily with food, offering a rewarding break from the mundane. An extremely gentle neutral oak èlevage, allowing the fruit to shine.

Kiona Vineyards and Winery produced the first commercial bottling of Lemberger in the United States in 1980. Since then, our original 1.8 acre planting has grown to 13.1 acres. Lemberger is typically grown in cooler regions; Red Mountain is a blast furnace by comparison, which results in a riper, rounder profile not found in cooler areas.

In 1975 our family planted the first vineyard on Red Mountain, an area now known for producing some of the world’s most powerful, opulent wines of distinction. For three generations we’ve worked together on our farm to grow exciting, vineyard-driven wines that capture the essence of our Red Mountain estates.
