In 1980, Dr. Bassett and Marcela Brown bought a ranch in the eastern hills of Napa Valley, planting grapes and selling them to local winemakers for a decade. In 1995, their children — Deneen, David, and Coral Brown — founded Brown Estate and bottled their first vintage of Zinfandel in 1996. Today, Brown Estate is a fully owned and operated Black-owned winery in Napa, highly regarded for the quality of its sustainably grown estate wines. House of Brown is a second-generation label under the BROWN Napa Valley umbrella, born from the family’s vision of a more affordable, inclusive brand with diversity at its heart. Deneen Brown led the vision: modern, fashionable, and welcoming to everyone.
