Wine Details & Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes: A fresh, aromatic Douro white with the characteristic vibrancy and mineral character of the Cima Corgo sub-region. The high-elevation vineyards — part south-facing for sun exposure, part north-facing for cooling prevailing winds — produce grapes of exceptional balance and freshness. Expect stone fruit, citrus, and floral notes with a clean, mineral-driven finish typical of Douro white wines at their best.

Food Pairing

The fresh acidity and mineral character of this Douro white make it a natural companion for seafood and light dishes. Pairs beautifully with grilled sea bass, bacalhau (salt cod), and fresh oysters. Also excellent alongside grilled shrimp, light pasta with olive oil and herbs, and soft cheeses. The stone fruit and floral notes make it a wonderful aperitif on its own. Serve well chilled at 45–50°F to preserve the wine’s vibrant aromatics and mineral freshness.

Occasion

This is your discovery white — the bottle for adventurous wine lovers who want to explore beyond the obvious and experience the Douro Valley’s extraordinary potential for dry white wine. Perfect for spring and summer entertaining, seafood dinners, and gifting the enthusiast who appreciates authentic Portuguese wine with genuine terroir and a commitment to sustainable farming.

Wine Producer / Historical Notes

Quinta da Devesa is a small, 34-hectare family estate owned by the Fortunato family in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro Valley — one of Portugal’s most dramatic and storied wine regions. The winery has been dedicated to the production of Douro and Port wine since 1941, with vineyards ranging from 500 to 600 meters in elevation. The vineyards are managed under a minimum intervention system known as Integrated Production, focusing on prevention of pests and disease rather than reactive spraying. This approach provides a healthy habitat for birds, reptiles, and mammals, ensuring adequate biodiversity and a balanced, sustainable environment.
