This dry white is made from 100% Moscofilero, a red grape variety grown primarily in Arcadia within the Mantinea PDO zone. Although the grape itself is pink-to-reddish in color, most Moscofilero is vinified as white wine, producing a pale lemon color that can show subtle highlights from the variety’s skin pigmentation. The wine is intensely aromatic, inviting, yet remarkably fresh and crisp, with characteristic notes of rose petals, jasmine, lemon blossom, orange peel, gentle spice and mineral character. It is a delightful summer to fall transition which opens with white flowers, honeysuckle, supported by bright acidity - all the while these well rounded textures and flavors carry through the medium-bodied palate into a clean, persistent finish, offering an expressive introduction to one of Greece’s distinctive indigenous varieties. That contrast between a red-skinned grape and a delicate, highly aromatic white wine is one of Moscofilero’s most distinctive traits.

Domaine Skouras was founded by George Skouras, the Dijon-trained winemaker who remains the estate’s principal winemaking figure and one of the important names in modern Greek wine. His children Dimitris and Stella Skouras are increasingly taking over the reins of the family estate, with Dimitris involved in viticulture and winemaking and Stella contributing to the business and commercial side, while George continues to guide the wines. Dimitra Trahani, a woman oenologist who has been part of Domaine Skouras since 2002, works alongside George and Dimitris and plays an important role in the winery’s oenological direction and quality control, making her a significant part of the estate’s winemaking team.
