Behind every great wine is a story worth telling — and La Iride’s begins with a grandmother named Iride Papotti, known lovingly as “la nonna,” who crossed an ocean and planted roots in the most important wine-making region in Argentina. When Iride and her husband Gino emigrated from Italy to Mendoza, they brought with them a love of the vine that traced back to at least the early 19th century — winemaking knowledge passed from generation to generation, refined and deepened with each. Their children designed and manufactured wine-making machinery and stainless steel fermentation tanks. And finally, leaning on the full weight of that family knowledge and trajectory, the next generation made the decision to create their own winery — naming it La Iride, in honor of the woman who started it all. Today, La Iride Bodega & Vineyards is a woman-owned, family-owned estate producing award-winning Mendoza wines that carry the passion of four generations of Italian-Argentine winemaking heritage in every bottle. This 2021 “Coordenada” Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship expression of that legacy: structured, elegant, and deeply Mendocino — intense ruby color, spicy black pepper, vanilla from extended barrel aging, wide-ranging and soft on the palate with beautifully integrated ripe tannins and a long, persistent finish.

For years their children designed and manufactured wine-making machinery and stainless steel fermentation-and-storage tanks for rental or sale.
