Haywater Cove Merlot is a ripe, complex, rich Merlot, a fine example of the benefits of growing wine grapes on Long Island. It's made from grapes from North Fork vineyards and is a tribute to the beautiful surrounds of Peconic Bay and the North Fork of Long Island. Perfectly drinkable, with plenty of character, and a velvety-plush mouthfeel. Its flavor is full of berries and cherries - just like the ones you might find growing in summer around Peconic Bay. Baking spices and a touch of oak round out the finish. Enjoy it as a warming wine around the autumn or winter firepit, with a tasty roast meal with friends, or after your fun in the snow.
92% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Sauvignon
Haywater Cove is a real place, a little sanctuary where three creeks meet at the mouth of a harbor in Peconic Bay, where land and sea meet and winds of the Atlantic slow to a gentle breeze. It is where one can kick back, and relax by the lazy tides, salty air, and sunshine. The wines in this series by Alie Shaper are a tribute to the Cove and are non-vintage and sweetly priced for the quotidian.
Brooklyn Oenology (BOE) is an ode to the borough’s culture and is inspired by the desire to bring New Yorkers’ wines from their own state. Winemaker Alie Shaper expands the concept of terroir — how a particular region’s climate, soils, and aspects influence wine and give it a sense of place — by incorporating pieces by Brooklyn artists on every label. Each vintage highlights the very best of New York state’s wine country.
