The NV Nicolas Feuillatte Cuvée Gastronomie Réserve Exclusive Brut is an elegant and crisp non-vintage Champagne featuring a radiant pale gold color and a vibrant cascade of delicate bubbles. Masterfully crafted by Chief Winemaker Guillaume Roffiaen, this cuvée presents an expressive nose defined by fresh floral aromas and clear dominant notes of crisp white fruits like pear and apple, underscored by subtle hints of almond and hazelnut. On the palate, the opening is remarkably fresh and smooth, seamlessly balancing out at roughly 12% ABV with a creamy, well-rounded texture that makes it an excellent pairing for high-end seafood like crab and lobster. This harmony is achieved through a precise blend composed of 40% Pinot Noir for structural complexity and roundness, 40% Meunier to inject a vibrant burst of fruitiness, and 20% Chardonnay to impart delicacy, focus, and a lingering, elegant finish.
The history of the house begins with its visionary founder, Nicolas Feuillatte, a successful entrepreneur who made his first fortune in the 1960s as a major commercial coffee importer in New York before pivoting to Champagne vineyards and launching his eponymous brand in 1976 to share exclusive cuvées with high-society American friends like Jackie Kennedy. In a parallel development, a regional visionary named Henri Macquart founded the Centre Viticole de Champagne in 1972 to help local winegrowers unite and secure fruit sales after a massive surplus harvest, which ultimately led to a strategic merger in 1986 when Feuillatte sold his booming brand to Macquart's cooperative to form the unified Centre Vinicole – Champagne Nicolas Feuillatte (CV-CNF). Despite being the youngest of the major historical Champagne houses, it has grown into a massive cooperative powerhouse that today unites over 82 distinct winemaking co-ops representing more than 4,500 individual grower-vineyards across the region, granting the house unprecedented access to premium fruit spanning 11 of the region's 17 prestigious Grand Crus.
