2022 AniChe 7 Gables Red, Columbi Gorge AVA, Columbia Valley, Washington

The 7 gables is from a combination of prime vineyards blocks in the Columbia Gorge AvA, The lush bodied red blend is bursting with vibrant fruit, known for its intense aromas of ripe red bing-cherry and strawberry, as well as earthy notes of leather and a harmonious complexity of minerals and touches of cinnamon spice, rounded nuances of brambleberry, cedary vanilla and creamy orange peel give way to crushed pepper and dried fruit, contributing to a complex profile with a smooth, weighty mouthfeel.  This reminds me of the Southern Rhone, but packed with a style that is uniquely Washington state.

Rachael Horn and Anaïs Mera make incredible wine and this mother-daughter duo has their finger on the pulse of what Washington terroir can do.  Rachel made her first experimental vintage in 2008, having embarked on an adventure midlife, with a whispered dream and mason jar of change to fund her new project and ancient passion. The real adventure began in 2009 with a commercial license, tiny equipment. Family and friends poised with 5 gallon buckets and fun loving energy. AniChe has grown over the years, but the adventure is still fresh and ongoing in a discovery of wines and family, friends and community.
