Jumilla is one of Spain’s most exciting and underrated wine regions — a sun-drenched plateau in southeastern Spain where limestone soils, intense Mediterranean sunlight, and the native Monastrell grape combine to produce wines of remarkable depth, character, and value. And Bodegas Viña Elena has been farming this land since 1948, when founder Francisco Pacheco planted the first vines of what would become a four-generation family legacy. Today, the winery is led by fourth-generation sisters Elena Pacheco and Amelia Pacheco — Elena as director and winemaker, overseeing vineyard management and winemaking; Amelia managing international sales, export markets, and brand development. Together, they are bringing Jumilla Monastrell to a global audience, and this 2023 “Familia Pacheco” bottling is exactly why. Vibrant, expressive, smooth, and deeply Mediterranean — a beginner-friendly crowd-pleaser and a Wine Club favorite at an outstanding everyday price.
