Pale golden-straw in the glass, this Garnacha Blanca opens with fragrant aromas of ripe pear, yellow apple, and citrus blossom layered with hints of white peach and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is smooth and rounded yet vibrant, revealing flavors of orchard fruit, lemon zest, and subtle stone fruit balanced by refreshing acidity. A gentle mineral edge and delicate herbal nuance carry through the mid-palate, finishing clean and elegant with lingering citrus and a soft saline lift that reflects the sun-washed limestone soils of Terra Alta.
Cristina Borrull is the full-time winemaker at Celler Piñol, having joined the estate in 2018, where she oversees day-to-day winemaking and works closely with the Piñol family and consulting winemaker Toni Coca. A talented and rising voice in Spanish wine, Cristina blends respect for Terra Alta’s traditional grape varieties with modern cellar techniques to craft wines that express the region’s distinctive Mediterranean terroir. At the estate she collaborates with Juanjo Galcera Piñol, the winery’s director and export manager, and Josefina Piñol, who maintains the historic family cellar and legacy of the winery. Located in the village of Batea in Catalonia, Celler Piñol farms organically and focuses on indigenous grapes such as Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Tinta, Cariñena, and Morenillo, allowing Cristina’s winemaking to highlight the limestone soils, elevation, and aromatic Mediterranean herbs that characterize Terra Alta wines.
