Red, White & Rosé: The Wine Concierge's July 4th Sip Guide (With a Little Fireworks Energy)
Because your cookout deserves better than whatever's on sale at the gas station.
Let's be honest. July 4th is one of the most chaotic, joyful, sweat-soaked, sparkler-lit celebrations of the year — and the wine (and beer) situation at most cookouts is... a missed opportunity. We're talking warm rosé in a red Solo cup, a mystery six-pack from the back of someone's trunk, and a bottle of something that shall not be named.
You deserve better. Your guests deserve better. And frankly, the winemakers and brewers we're about to introduce you to? They definitely deserve better than being overlooked.
At The Wine Concierge, we curate wines and beers from Black-owned, women-led, and minority-owned producers — because representation matters even in your glass. Especially in your glass. So this July 4th, we're bringing you a full sip guide: sparkling, rosé, white, red, and yes — craft beer — all sourced from makers who are rewriting the story of American (and global) wine culture.
Let's get into it. 🎆
🥂 Start With the Bubbles (Because Every Party Needs a Grand Entrance)
You don't pop a bottle of still wine when the fireworks start. That's just science.
NV Paul Buisse Crémant de Loire Brut Sparkling — $21.00
Think of Crémant as Champagne's cooler, more approachable cousin who actually shows up on time. This Loire Valley sparkler is crisp, elegant, and celebratory without the Champagne price tag. It's the bottle you open when the grill is lit and the playlist is right. Vegan-friendly, too.
NV Noughty Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Brut — $19.99
For the designated driver, the sober-curious guest, the pregnant bestie, or anyone who just wants to clink glasses without the alcohol — Noughty is the real deal. Certified organic, from the Western Cape of South Africa, and made by a woman-led team. No one gets left out of the toast on our watch.
Pro tip: Serve both side by side in matching flutes. No one will know the difference until they ask — and that's the point.
🌹 The Rosé Lineup (Yes, We Have Several. No, We're Not Sorry.)
July 4th is peak rosé season. The sun is out, the grill is going, and a cold glass of pink wine is basically a love language. Here's our curated roster:
2025 La Fête du Rosé, Côtes de Provence AOC, St. Tropez, France — $25.99
"La Fête" means "the party" in French — and this wine lives up to its name. A dry, elegant Provence rosé from a Black-owned producer, this Grenache-Syrah-Cinsault blend is everything you want in a summer pour: pale pink, fresh, and utterly drinkable. Pair it with grilled shrimp, watermelon salad, or just the vibe of a rooftop at golden hour.
2025 Aslina Ndubs Rosé, Stellenbosch, South Africa — $23.99
Ntsiki Biyela is one of the most celebrated winemakers in South Africa — and one of the most important voices in global wine. As a Black woman winemaker, her Aslina label is a love letter to her heritage and her craft. This rosé is structured, vibrant, and pairs beautifully with BBQ chicken, grilled corn, or a charcuterie board that's getting a little out of hand (we've all been there).
2025 Silver Myn Cabernet Franc Rosé, Stellenbosch, South Africa — $17.00
Imported by a woman importer through Red Wolf Imports, this Cab Franc rosé from South Africa's Banghoek Valley is dry, food-friendly, and wildly affordable. At $17, it's the bottle you buy six of. (Which, by the way, qualifies you for free shipping. Just saying.)
2024 Wölffer "Summer in a Bottle" Long Island Rosé — $26.06
The name says it all. This woman co-owned Long Island rosé is a summer classic — bright, fruity, and festive. It's the bottle that photographs well, drinks even better, and makes everyone at the table feel like they're on vacation. Pair with lobster rolls, grilled peaches, or a sparkler in your other hand.
🍋 White Wines for the Grill Masters & the Shade-Seekers
Not everyone wants rosé (we respect it, barely), so here's your white wine lineup for the cookout:
2024 House of Brown Sauvignon Blanc, Lodi, California — $25.00
House of Brown is a Black woman-owned California wine brand, and this Sauvignon Blanc is crisp, citrusy, and made for summer. Think grilled fish tacos, fresh guacamole, or just standing next to the fan in the kitchen pretending you're helping. Pairs with all of the above.
2024 Fairvalley Sauvignon Blanc, Western Cape, South Africa — $13.99
Fair Trade certified and Black-owned, Fairvalley is a worker-owned cooperative winery in South Africa — meaning the people who grow the grapes also own the business. That's the kind of story we love to tell. And at $13.99, it's the most affordable bottle on this list. Stock up. (Six bottles = free shipping. We'll keep reminding you.)
2022 La Fête du Blanc, Côtes de Provence AOC, St. Tropez, France — $24.00
From the same Black-owned producer as our beloved La Fête du Rosé, this white blend of Rolle, Viognier, and Colombard is aromatic, textured, and absolutely stunning with grilled seafood or a summer cheese board.
2024 Quinta da Lixa Vinho Verde, Minho, Portugal — $13.29
Low alcohol (9.5%), slightly effervescent, and refreshing in a way that feels almost medicinal on a hot July day. Vinho Verde is the ultimate "I'm outside and it's 90 degrees" wine. Pair with anything light — ceviche, fruit salad, or just the breeze.
2024 Monemvasia Assyrtiko, Laconia PGI, Peloponnese, Greece — $18.00
Made by a woman winemaker, this Greek white is mineral-driven and bright — think lemon zest, sea salt, and a slight saline finish that makes it extraordinary with grilled octopus, shrimp skewers, or anything that came off the grill near the ocean (or near your imagination of the ocean).
2024 Tilia Torrontés, Cafayate-Salta Valley, Argentina — $19.00
Torrontés is Argentina's signature white grape — floral, aromatic, and unlike anything else in your glass. This is the conversation-starter bottle. Someone will ask "what IS this?" and you'll get to say "it's a Torrontés from the Salta Valley in Argentina" and feel very sophisticated while eating a hot dog. We love that for you.
2022 Kumusha 'Flame Lily' White Blend, Slanghoek, Western Cape, SA — $38.00
This is the splurge bottle — and it's worth every penny. A Black-owned, award-winning, vegan white blend of Chenin Blanc, Roussanne, and Sémillon from South Africa. Complex, layered, and stunning. Save this one for the dinner table when the fireworks are over and the real conversations begin.
2022 House of Brown Chardonnay, Lodi, California — $24.00
Another gem from the Black woman-owned House of Brown. This Chardonnay is approachable, food-friendly, and perfect for guests who "only drink Chardonnay." (We all have one. We love them anyway.)
🍷 Reds for the Grill & the Brave Souls Who Drink Red in July
We see you, red wine drinkers. We respect you. Here's your lineup:
2023 MNW OPP "Other People's Pinot Noir," Washington — $23.00
The name alone deserves a spot on this list. From a Black-owned winery, this Pinot Noir is lighter-bodied, lower in tannin, and actually enjoyable slightly chilled on a hot day. Pair with grilled salmon, turkey burgers, or the philosophical debate about whether hot dogs are sandwiches.
2025 Aslina Ndubs Red Blend, Western Cape, South Africa — $22.99
Ntsiki Biyela again — because when a Black woman winemaker of this caliber makes both a rosé and a red, you feature both. This red blend is bold enough for ribs and brisket but elegant enough for the dinner table. A true cookout-to-candlelight wine.
2021 La Fête du Rouge, Côtes de Provence AOC, St. Tropez, France — $33.00
The third bottle from our beloved Black-owned La Fête producer — and the most serious of the trio. A GSM blend (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre) from St. Tropez, this red is structured, aromatic, and built for grilled lamb chops, beef kebabs, or a slow-smoked brisket situation.
2023 Silver Myn Argentum Red, Banghoek Valley, Stellenbosch, South Africa — $17.00
A Bordeaux-style blend at a price that makes you feel like you found a secret. Cabernet Franc, Cab Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot — this is the red for the serious grill master who wants something that can stand up to a thick-cut ribeye.
2022 Pemper Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand — $29.99
From a woman-owned producer in New Zealand's Marlborough region, this Pinot Noir is elegant, earthy, and food-forward. Pair with duck, lamb, or mushroom burgers for the vegetarians at your cookout (they'll appreciate you for it).
2019 La Iride Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina — $24.99
Made by a woman winemaker, this Mendoza Malbec is rich, velvety, and made for red meat. If you're doing a proper July 4th cookout with steaks or burgers, this is your bottle. Bold, beautiful, and unapologetically full-bodied.
🍺 The Craft Beer Corner (Because We See You, Beer Lovers)
Wine isn't the only thing we curate. We also carry craft beers from Black-owned breweries — and for July 4th, these are non-negotiable.
Soul Mega Worldwide American Pale Ale, Washington D.C. — $16.50
Made right here in the DMV by a Black-owned brewery, Soul Mega's American Pale Ale is crisp, hoppy, and deeply local. At 5.5% ABV with PNW hops, it's the perfect sessionable beer for a long afternoon in the sun. This is the beer you hand someone when they walk through the gate. It sets the tone.
Soul Mega Metropolis India Pale Ale, Washington D.C. — $16.50
For the hop heads in your crew. This Black-owned DC IPA clocks in at 6.0% ABV and brings bold, citrusy hop character that pairs beautifully with spicy wings, jerk chicken, or anything with a kick. Support local. Drink well.

So this year, skip the gas station wine. Skip the mystery six-pack. Choose bottles with stories. Choose makers who matter. And enjoy every sip knowing that your glass is doing more than just tasting good — it's making a statement.
